Investment Insights Group The Investment Insights Group (IIG) comprises of a team of quantitative researchers and data scientists residing in each asset department to harness alternative data and advanced quantitative methods to generate superior investment performance for GIC. While quantitative researchers reside within specific asset departments alongside investment teams, they are also part of the broader IIG community, which provides ongoing capability development in quantitative techniques, functional mentorship, and exposure to cross-asset projects. We are looking for an experienced Strat to join Equities Data Strategies in driving the ideation, development and adoption of tech and data-driven insights in GIC’s fundamental equities business. Public Equities (EQ) We generate sustainable, superior returns through active investments across global equity markets. Strategies include total return strategies, absolute return strategies, and relative return strategies. Our long-term orientation and strong relationships with corporates provide us with opportunities to capitalize on market volatility to deliver strong investment performance. What impact can you make in this role? You will be part of a team that uses advanced quantitative methods, alternative data, and technology to generate superior investment performance. What will you do as an SVP, Lead Quant Strat (Portfolio and Strategy Insights)? Coach portfolio managers towards better performance using portfolio engineering methods, including Identifying and tracking portfolio performance drivers Proposing optimised portfolio strategies that take into account risk premia factors and mandate-specific constraints Leveraging strong communication skills and understanding of portfolio construction concepts to share insights and drive adoption with EQ’s portfolio managers Utilising quantitative methods, Machine Learning and LLMs to deepen contextual augmentation in the methods above Drive engagement and adoption of portfolio engineering methods and tools within Equities’ investing teams Inspire, develop and rejuvenate the junior talents in the team Take leadership in bridging technical and investment domains, translating ideas and discussions into implementable ideas. Partner with technologists on implementation What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role? A Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics/ Econometrics/ Computer Science related subjects, with FRM preferred At least 10 years of experience in equities portfolio management or optimisation from a risk and performance analysis angle, understanding how alpha is generated along the fundamental investment process Able to build a backtesting framework for different portfolios/strategies, and appreciate the nuances of insights gleaned from such backtests (e.g. overfitting, and testing for it) Proficiency in Python or R Experience in managing teams Entrepreneurial spirit – Comfortable working in unstructured environments, and strong ability to do business development Effective written and verbal communications skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to a broad audience Work at the Point of Impact We need to be forward-looking to attract the right people to help us become the Leading Global Long-term Investor.
