PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES SAP Export Control is a central function that is responsible for ensuring SAP’s compliance with applicable export and import laws and regulations, including trade sanctions. It defines SAP’s export control and trade compliance policy, advises the company on legal requirements and best practices and monitors SAP’s deliveries on premise and in the Cloud. SAP Export Control further supports the company in analyzing and meeting export control and sanctions related market requirements and in dealing with customers, partners, authorities and policy makers worldwide. SAP Export Control reports to the Executive Board. SAP Export Control includes an operations team that is responsible for ensuring compliance through appropriate export control compliance processes and policies and a legal team which supports the operations team and other functions at SAP with legal advice and with the implementation of new or changing regulatory requirements. SAP Export Control is based at SAP’s headquarters in Germany, with employees in Germany, India, Ireland, United Kingdom, Russia and the United States of America. It closely interacts with global and local functions in the areas of legal and compliance, government relations, security, product development, logistics and operations. We are looking for a RECC for SAP’s APJ region. EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS The RECC is the main driver for export control and trade compliance on a regional level and acts as a regional representative of the Export Control Team. The RECC’s main tasks include: Acting as legal advisor for activities relating to the export and import of goods and services relevant for the region; Interpreting and explaining export/trade related compliance requirements and regulations applicable to the region, and assisting in resolving issues; Working closely with other members of the SAP Export Control Team, regional legal teams, local commercial teams and other functions at SAP, as required to ensure compliance applicable law and business requirements; Promoting knowledge creation and sharing within the region; Raising awareness of export control & trade compliance on management level; Analyzing changes in local laws and providing gap analysis and support local implementation projects; Helping strengthen the global export control & trade compliance community within SAP; Supporting the Export Control Team in a case of supervisory authority requests with the assigned region; Monitoring that local processes within the assigned region are adopted; and Providing education and training EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Necessary skills University degree in law Thorough knowledge of export control and trade compliance regulations and best practices and/or strong desire to deepen understanding of export control and trade compliance laws for assigned region Good project organizational skills Fluency in English and a main language in the assigned region Outstanding written and spoken communication and presentation skills Effective communication skill even on C-level Assertive and convincing personality, high-level of commitment and flexibility Good team-working skills Expertise to lead a virtual team without formal authority Expertise to work in an international environment Preferred skills Proficiency in other languages WORK BACKGROUND Min five years of work background in the area of export controls, either in the export control department or in the legal department of an international company, in a law firm or consulting company specialized in export control and trade compliance, or equivalent.
